This is Sea Day #2. The clocks went an
hour forward overnight and go forward another hour tonight getting to Adelaide
time, but 30 minutes out, as in Darwin in the last cruise. South Australia and Northern Territory are in
the same time zone, which is only 30 minutes different from Melbourne and
Sydney.
The sky was a light gray this morning with
a wind of 35 km per hour and cool temperature of 18 C. The waves were rolling with about two meter
troughs and peaks. The depth to the
bottom is about 4,700 meters. We needed our windproof jackets for walking on
any outside deck today. Today is Pancake Tuesday. We stopped after 4 km for
coffee in the Windjammer to warm up.
Lunch was in the dining room with two
American couples and a couple from Australia.
We went to a talk about improving your memory and a Foxtrot lesson. We watched the lesson since it was beginner
steps and there were about 26 couples on the crowded dance floor. The rest of the afternoon was spent reading
and in the casino, before returning to the Colony Club to dance to the dance
instructor’s recorded ballroom music along with Bob and Maureen and Tom and
Mary, who also are seasoned ballroom dancers.
We walked with Bob and Maureen to dinner
and joined the others. Appetizers this
evening were Corn and Potato Frittata, Bergen’s Fish Veloute and Roasted
Cauliflower Risotto Cake, the main course was a cheese, potato and leek quiche
with lingonberry sauce or North Cape Flounder with boiled potato green beans. The desserts chosen were Expresso Cheesecake
and Apple Pie with vanilla ice cream.
We dance after dinner to the Traffle Duo
before going to the evening show featuring Craig Dahn, an entertaining
classically trained pianist with a great repertoire, including pieces such as
Flight of the Bumblebee, the original 1925 score and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s
theme from Phantom of the Opera, and classical William Tell Overture.
